How to Balance Life

Cary, NC

July 17, 2023

Jai Sri:manna:ra:yana!!

On the evening of 17 th July 2023, VT Seva Cary organized its annual event called SADAYA at Green Level High School. The meaning itself is kind, gentle and caring towards other people that aligns with the mission of the VT Seva, JET (Jeeyar Educational Trust). The event was extra special with our guest of honor being Holy Highness Sri China Jeeyar Swami Ji. Shri China Jeeyar Swami ji had a grand welcome with the high energy dhol drums music played by our high school kids.

The event served to showcase VT Seva Cary’s accomplishments and achievements throughout the year and to have exposure and to let everyone know about the organizations started by Sri China Jeeyar Swamiji, such as JET (Jeeyar Educational Trust) and Prajna. The Art & Activity showcase by the VT Seva youth volunteers was the attraction as we entered the event hall.

EMCEEs started the event by giving the event details. The prayers by Prajna kids and the National Anthems performed by VT Seva Cary kids have created a serene and patriotic atmosphere. The classical dance performance about Sri Ramanuja Jananam by Sruthi Dance Academy added grace and elegance to the event. It's wonderful to see the involvement of children and the promotion of cultural arts during the welcome ceremony.

It's commendable to hear about the hard work and dedication put in by the Board of Directors of VT Seva Cary, youth board, and numerous volunteers to make SADAYA a huge success. VT Seva Board had given a great introduction about Swamiji and the impact he has made through his spiritual and humanitarian work. Swamiji recognized the dignitaries by acknowledging their contributions.

It was an honor for the kids to receive the PVSA awards by Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swami Ji during the event.

However, Swamiji's journey was not merely physical, but a spiritual odyssey that spread positivity, unity and profound wisdom, enriching everyone fortunate enough to cross paths with him. On July 19th, a public event showcased Prajna & VT Seva activities and honored SRS donors in Cumming, Georgia. As Swamiji entered around 7PM, a reverent atmosphere enveloped all. Prajna and VT Seva youth enthusiastically displayed their achievements through presentations, poised to showcase for Swamiji. Houston, Texas

Acharya HH Sri Chinnajeeyar Swamiji, the illustrious spiritual luminary, graced Houston between August 1st and August 6th, 2023. Sri Swamiji’s visit to Houston was originally to unveil the Statue of Union, a 90-foot-tall Abhaya Anjaneya statue. Due to some unavoidable circumstances, the unveiling ceremony did not take place. As Sri Swamiji blessed us, it was only that Hanuman was giving us more time to prepare for his arrival.

Swamiji delved deep into the philosophy embodied by the Statue of Union. Swamiji explained that Hanuman, celebrated for his unparalleled devotion and might, is a unifying force, bridging realms of animals, mortals, celestials, demigods, and the netherworld. His essence radiates the doctrines of harmony and unity. Swamiji championed the cause of unity, beckoning every sect, ethnicity, race, and community to merge into this harmonious confluence. This profound message resonated with the Houston populace, kindling a spirit of unity amidst diversity.

Swamiji’s visit was a spiritual retreat for those in attendance. On the first day, Swamiji unveiled a 7-foot-scale model replica of the Statue of Union and this event marked the celebrations open. Every morning Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji led a hall full of devotees in chanting the 100 verses of Samkshepa Ramayana, an abridged version of Valmiki Ramayana. In the evenings, there were discourses on Sundarakanda and the qualities of Hanuman. Sri Swamiji gave a mantra to meditate on Hanuman, “Om Sundara Sethave Namaha”. The chanting of the extremely powerful mantra has the ability to empower one with the qualities of Hanuman. Sri Swamiji advised us to chant the mantra daily till the Statue of Union arrives and dedicate any amount that one is comfortable with, to Hanuman on a daily basis. Samuhika Sri Rama Puja was conducted and it was well attended, the puja activity being led by His Holiness Sri Swamiji. Pravachans were also given by the great scholar, U.Ve. Dr. Ranga Ramanuja Charya on Sundarakanda.

Swamiji also held a meeting of organizational leaders in the Houston area and gave them the message of unity and peaceful co-existence and drew a parallel between the purpose of the Statue of Union and the current state of affairs. The event was very well received and attendees were treated to the brilliance of Sri Swamiji.

Houston eagerly awaits the return of Sri Swamiji and His parivaaram to grace the unveiling of the Statue of Union and looks forward to celebrating the momentous occasion with the entire JET family and the community.

The volunteers have also won a GM grant to their proposed project – a listening corner at the TSBVI Library with enhanced technology.

During the visit, His Holiness was warmly welcomed by Mr. Alex Arguello, Head of Community Engagement, and Ms. Emily Coleman, School Superintendent. They were also joined by the Journeyman Constructions team, including Mr. Kurt Goll (Architect) and Mr. Patrick (Project Manager). His Holiness commended the school staff for their exceptional service and extended his mangalasasanams to the school and its students. During the discussions, he remarked, "People without eyes are not truly blind; it is those who possess eyes yet fail to see the suffering of others who are truly blind." Swamiji also did mangalasasanams to all the high school and adult volunteers. Swami ji also advised the VT Seva Austin team on expanding their support to the school.

Swamiji eloquently stressed the importance of instilling strong foundational values from a young age, applauding Prajna for its role in this endeavor, and guiding individuals toward adopting a service-oriented mindset through their involvement with VTSeva activities.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Sriman Muralimohan Dingari, followed by Archana and Mangalasasanams upon the attendees, leaving a profound sense of inspiration and commitment in the hearts of all attendees.

The:rtha Go:shti

On August 9th, the day began with a serene gathering called "The:rtha Go:shti." Over 300 enthusiastic devotees gathered to partake in the sanctified water from His Holiness Sri Sri Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji, cleansing their minds and inviting divine blessings. The event featured melodious singing by JET-Raganjali team and soulful recitation of Sanskrit and Dravidian stotrams by bhagavathas.

The name of the event comes from the Sanskrit words "te:rtha," meaning "holy water," and "go:sthi," meaning "gathering." The gathering is meant to be a refreshing and uplifting experience, like drinking holy water.

The The:rtha Go:shti was a wonderful way to start the day. It was a time for devotees to come together and connect with Paramathma through Acha:rya.

Donors Meeting

On August 9th, His Holiness Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swami met with donors to the Statue of Equality (SOE) project and judges of the Amuse event to thank them for their service and donations. Swamiji discussed the nature of desires and their management along with a question and answer session.

Swami ji highlighted the fact that relentlessly pursuing our desires often leads to dissatisfaction, as desires tend to multiply with each achievement. Instead, he put forward an alternative approach: turning our attention inward and giving importance to righteous actions. His Holiness said that when we focus on serving others and doing good in the world, our desires naturally subside.

At the end of the gathering, SOE donors received mementos as a token of appreciation.

Austin Hindu Temple Visit

On August 9th, His Holiness Sri Sri Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamy visited Austin Hindu Temple along with Maha:mahopadhya:ya Sri Samudrala Ranga Ramanuja Chary Swami. His Holiness emphasized worshiping the temple deity and having faith in God's various forms. The core message was that God is omnipresent and can take any form, with the temple's deity being a way to connect. God will take the properties of the form taken and hence praying archa moorthy will be an easier path to connect.

Maha:mahopadhya:ya Sri Rangaramanuja chary swami delivered his discourse on how Lord Rama helped Sugriva in Kishkindha Kanda and how one can stay focussed on God by idol worship. He gave mangalasasanams to all the devotees.

Youth Event: Manifesting Meaningful Futures

On August 9th, the Jeeyar International Youth Academy (JIYA) chapter at the University of Texas at Austin hosted an interactive session for high school and college students with Swamiji on the topic of “Manifesting Meaningful Futures–the Goal of Life.” The event was attended by more than 50 students.

Many students who came to the event skeptical of our scriptures' ability to provide answers to modern problems were pleasantly surprised by Swamiji's clear and concise answers to their doubts and follow-up questions. They were also thrilled by Swamiji's enthusiasm for discussing difficult topics in a way that was both informative and engaging.

By the end of the event, participants had a better understanding of how to set clear, value-aligned goals and work towards them while making sharing and service the overarching purpose of their lives. As one participant put it, “Swamiji's guidance on how we progress and transform spiritually over the span of our lives was enlightening. Rather than providing generic spiritual advice, he furnished us with specific insights tailored to our present conditions and the spiritual transitions we undergo over time. The entire session became a journey of introspection and self-awareness, which I am truly grateful for.”

Both the participants and His Holiness expressed an interest in holding a follow-up event during Swamiji's next visit. We hope that this event and Swamiji's rapport with the students will facilitate further interactions between Swamiji and the youth and encourage students to apply Swamiji's principles in their daily lives.”

Concluding the visit

His Holiness Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji's two-day visit to Austin, Texas, was a time of great joy and inspiration for the local community. Swami ji words of wisdom and compassion touched the hearts of all who heard them, and His presence brought a sense of peace and tranquility to the city.

His Holiness Sri Swamiji visit to Pittsburgh, PA In a remarkable visit filled with spirituality and devotion, Swamiji embarked on a journey to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, gracing the homes of esteemed devotees and enlightening the hearts of many. The journey began when HH Sri Swamiji arrived at approximately 8 PM at the residence of Sriman Raghavaji, the JET Pittsburgh coordinator, where the atmosphere was imbued with an aura of reverence.

The next destination on the Pittsburgh visit was the house of Sriman Ghoorayji, a descendant of Guyanese family whose ancestors had settled in Guyana centuries ago. It was a reminiscent occasion, as thirteen years ago, Swamiji had conducted a Bhagavad Saptaham at Sriman Ghooray Terbenie’s residence in California town in Pennsylvania.

As the sun rose on Saturday morning, a gathering of nearly 200 devotees from Pittsburgh and its neighboring areas convened at Sriman Raghavaji's house for a sacred Theertha Goshti. Following the Goshti, amidst a divine discourse, Sri Swamiji eloquently narrated the significance of Prajna, VT Seva, the awe-inspiring Statue of Equality, and the upcoming Statue of Union. Devotees were also updated on the progressive activities of JET Pittsburgh Chapter. By noon, Swamiji traveled to the illustrious Sri Venkateswara Temple of Pittsburgh, an iconic landmark as the first-ever temple established in the United States. Here, amidst the captivating ambiance, Swamiji graced the devotees with an insightful discourse on the Sudarsana Perumal Vaibhavam, elucidating its profound symbolism and spiritual significance.

As the day progressed, the divine message of the Ramayana resonated within the walls of Franklin Elementary School, a location which has previously been the venue for annual Sri Rama Navami celebrations, JET Pittsburgh Prajna classes, etc. 300 ardent devotees from the greater Pittsburgh area gathered to hear Swamiji's captivating discourse on the timeless epic. Chi. Srivatsa Bellamkonda, with his emceeing, set the stage for a soul-stirring event. Every devotee was mesmerized as Swamiji explained the essence of Ramayana and how we see it in our daily lives. The occasion also served as a platform to acknowledge and honor the dedicated teachers and volunteers, who were bestowed with prestigious Jeeyar Awards and Presidential Volunteer Service Awards for their commendable contributions.

Moreover, the visit served as an occasion to recognize generous donors of the Sahasrabdi project, a testament to their unwavering commitment to the cause. Their contributions were acknowledged and celebrated alongside the esteemed Jeeyar and Presidential Volunteer Service Awards, embodying the spirit of selflessness and unity.

As Sunday morning arrived, the visit culminated with a sunday Theertha Goshti and guidance to the Prajna teachers of Pittsburgh centers, leaving an indelible mark of divinity in the hearts of all who had the privilege to be a part of this transcendental experience.

Andal Aadipuram at JET California

In the warm embrace of summer morning, on the blessed day of Andal Thirunakshtram – the divine birth anniversary of Andal, Swamiji orchestrated a divine ritual. The spiritual landscape was graced by the sacred rite of Abhishekam, a holy bath bestowed upon the deity. The immersion of sanctity was succeeded by the exquisite Alamkaram, a lavish decoration that complemented the radiant being of Andal.

With the mischievous glint of wisdom in his eyes, Swamiji likened Andal to the playful, celestial child, Lord Krishna, expressing how she would sometimes coyly require persuasion to partake in her ritual shower. The charming anecdote added an intriguing human touch to the divine proceedings.

Delving into the profound significance of Andal Thirunakshtram, Swamiji painted a vivid picture of Andal's tale. The depiction of her devout dedication to Lord Ranganatha was heartfelt, portraying her spiritual romance and celestial marriage with the Lord as a testament to her deep faith. These engaging narrative was followed by the subsequent Theertha Goshti and a shared meal, stirring a sense of shared camaraderie and joy among JET CA community.

As the sun traced its arc across the sky, the afternoon heralded another mesmerizing event. Swamiji presided over the JET CA Goda Kalyanam, a grand event that drew an audience of over 2000 devotees, each heart entranced by the proceedings. This was followed by a skillful showcase of Bhagavad Gita Avadhanam by Prajna kids, which very much impressed the audience. This proved the power of vedic methods to enhance cognitive abilities. The day concluded with the distribution of maha prasadadm, a sacred offering, signifying the sharing of blessings and love, thereby encapsulating the holy essence of the day.
